Gawthorpe Hall...

Gawthorpe Hall still has a kind of grandeur, even though it's now hemmed in by the suburbs of Padiham, near Burnley. The sun lit the facade, but didn't melt the frost...

The view from Buckstones...

Bought a new lens on eBay: Sigma 20mm f1.8, which is the widest lens I've ever owned. Good for landscapes, of course, and interiors, and anywhere else where I'm cramped for room. This is the first shot with the new lens: Pennine scenery viewed from the car park at Buckstones...

Back to Hull...

My first visit to Hull, many years ago, was with my first girlfriend. We were refused a drink in a 'men only' quayside pub... and I wasn't in a hurry to go back.

But I had a wander recently around the town. It's changed, unsurprisingly, and this marina is full of recreational boats...

March Hare...

This ‘pilgrim rabbit’ was carved 700 years ago in St Mary’s Church, Beverley, East Yorkshire. When Lewis Carroll was writing Alice in Wonderland, he had to tell the book’s first illustrator, Sir John Tenniel, how he wanted the March Hare to look. He pointed him towards this carving…
