A traumatic day... I was robbed, mugged in broad daylight. There was a
bunch of them; I didn't see it coming. I'd just taken the first bite
of a Cornish pasty (not even filling... just crust). Before I had the
chance to take another bite, the pasty was gone. No time for a photo;

Beware of the snakes...
Stayed at Sennen Cove last night, with the waves crashing onto the beach. That base rumble was augmented, in the small hours, by thunder and lightning. The thunder and the waves combined to make one noise, not two: a fantastic, elemental racket. It was thrilling!

Maybe the architects wanted to recreate a San Francisco vibe, a ‘Fisherman’s Wharf’ scenario. But the whole is less than the sum of the parts, and this pale pastiche was almost deserted. The boats sat at their moorings, a few people congregated in Wetherspoons, and less than a dozen people (including me) saw Boyhood at the nearby cinema…

Asylum to apartments...
The snow’s arrived, but I have articles to write… so no time to be out and about with my camera. The hospital in Guiseley, Leeds (‘lunatic asylum’, as it used to be known) has a new lease of life as upmarket apartments…
