A new study, reported in the Guardian today, has apparently pinpointed the most boring people alive: birdwatchers, church-goers, accountants, data analysts and everyone who works in insurance. “Animal observation” is deemed to be even more boring than stamp-collecting. No matter; I’ve just enjoyed a couple of hours watching wildfowl in the wetlandfs of the Lower Derwent Valley. Best sighting: about a dozen pintail ducks in gorgeous breeding plumage.
